Reconnecting to Your Own Wisdom in our Fast-Paced World

Recently, my work with women has focused on helping them drop beneath the surface of their current challenges to reconnect to their OWN deeper knowing and wisdom.

The Challenge of Staying Connected

In this intense decade, staying connected to ourselves is more challenging than ever. With so much to absorb, understand, learn, unlearn, release, and integrate on various levels, it's easy to feel overwhelmed.

Can we digest the information we absorb?

We are constantly navigating a sea of information - mentally, emotionally, relationally and energetically - whilst also processing unresolved issues from the past, dealing with conflict and challenges in the present, and worrying about the future.

It’s simply too much for our bodies to take in for us, when the next day we cycle through more of it…and so on…compounding this sense of pressure to be across all the things. Our bodies need more time to process, digest and integrate what we’re absorbing and to have a way of releasing what we don’t need.

Add in the emotional load of supporting others in our lives who are also navigating big changes, and we can start to see why it’s so hard to stay connected to ourselves and to hear our body’s more subtle cues over so much noise.

The accumulation of unprocessed information compounds into stress over time, especially when it’s not attended to.

What I'm noticing is it's not that we don't have the ability or skill to navigate this, we do - it's more we don’t always remember to use the tools and techniques we have, especially when we need them most.

The Importance of Slowing Down

When life gets stressful or uncertain, it's not automatic to slow down and check in with ourselves, but it’s so important.

We forget there’s a calmness beneath the chaos, and we can reconnect to that when things are spinning too fast.

Often, we keep pushing forward, overriding our needs, and the stress accumulates, which can lead to physical and emotional symptoms.

Inner practices to digest and reflect are crucial

Having discernment about what we’re absorbing and our own regular practices of tuning out from the noise and tuning into how our bodies are responding to what it’s absorbed each day, and letting go of what’s not ours to hold or deal with - are crucial skills in navigating these fast times and coming back into connection with ourselves.

Then in those times when we’re overloaded or disconnected and it’s too much to process ourselves, it can be incredibly helpful for someone to hold space for us.

Having a space to debrief, process and release what’s been building up allows us to listen deeply to how our body is responding to life, tend to those responses, and tune into what we truly need.
